The contemporary designer is expected to be both a craftsman and an innovator, a designer who proactively reflects, researches, connects with a place and its inhabitants, and actively takes a position on the climate crisis and other complex and collective challenges. These developments call for new skills, methods and tools, and for questioning and redefining the form of our educational spaces.
What spatial forms are fitting for contemporary design education? What behavior should these spaces invite? What physical qualities – specific and adaptable, formal and informal – create inspiring spaces for research, deepening, reflection, encounter and dialogue?
